Jury
On 13th and 14th December 2007 the jury met at the Leipzig Academy of the Visual Arts (HGB) to decide on the winners of the 2008 Walter Tiemann Prize and the award for the most promising young typographer or illustrator.
The jury consisted of: the Swedish typographer Matilda Plöjel, winner of the 2006 Walter Tiemann Prize; the illustrator Katja Schwalenberg (Leipzig); typographers Kerstin Riedel (Berlin) and Prof. Ingo Offermanns (Hamburg); and Lars Lehmann from the book printing and binding company Offizin Andersen Nexö (Leipzig).
This year the jury was able to make its selection from high-quality competition entries from Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.
The 2008 Walter Tiemann Prize is awarded to Florian Hardwig from Germany for his entry ³Von Luftlinien, Flammenbögen & Speedloops² (³On Air Lines, Flame Bows & Speed Loops²) and the award for the most promising young typographer or illustrator goes to Lina Grumm from Germany for her work ³A-Z/A=A (s.Identität)² (³A-Z/A=A (see identity)²).
